POSITION SUMMARY:  As the Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), you’ll serve as the cross-functional champion for CMA’s DEI efforts.  You’ll work closely with CMA’s leadership team, staff members at all levels, and other groups as needed to develop and oversee the DEI strategy for the organization. 


  • Work closely with CEO and leadership team to set the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging strategy for the organization, including measurement of success of strategic initiatives and actively communicating progress to all staff members
  • Oversee implementation of DEI strategy and action plan as outlined in partnership with external consultant
  • Work closely with marketing and communications teams as well as with external resources/agencies to ensure internal and external messaging is inclusive and reaches a diverse audience  
  • Consult with membership team on industry and member practices, including development of DEI member programming
  • Serve as a thought leader on DEI best practices, and coach employees and leaders to recognize, accommodate, and appreciate individual differences aligned with CMA’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging strategy
  • Partner with hiring managers, staff members, internal and external communities, and members to develop and implement programs and partnerships that attract, retain, and promote a diverse and inclusive workforce
  • Play an active role in the community, identifying and building relationships and partnerships that enable CMA to make a difference throughout the industry
  • Advise Human Resources in resolving, investigating, and processing employee relations issues, complaints and problems with respect to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on training, engagement, and development opportunities that support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging among staff
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with internal departments and staff members at all levels in order to implement business strategies
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of recent experience managing DEI programs/change management or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong acumen of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging concepts with proven and demonstrated track record of leading diversity and inclusion-related initiatives and programs
  • Experience managing and leading teams
  • Demonstrated project management skills, having managed and successfully delivered multiple, complex projects on-time and on-budget
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Expert presentation and training facilitation skills, both in-person and virtual
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Strong decision-making and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated success in a high pressure, dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Deadline focused, organized and able to prioritize multiple projects
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office (PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Occasional travel may be required
