Christopher A. Brum-Taylor, Senior Partner & Financial Planner
Chris joined SolomonWood as a financial advisor in 2011. He has completed his certification as a Certified Financial Planner™ professional and holds the Behavioral Financial Advisor (BFA™) designation where he studied the psychological aspects of investing and making financial decisions. “Some people respond emotionally to a drop in the stock market or make decisions about large purchases based on emotions instead of sound planning,” said Chris. “Some are hesitant to initiate a discussion about planning for illness and death because those topics are uncomfortable. These factors are considered as I guide my clients through the process of ‘good’ planning.” Chris believes that good advisors are teachers to their clients. In this role, he has become a specialist in empowering women & LGBTQ individuals to manage their own financial futures.
Originally from the Nashville area, Chris graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee with a business degree. Having served on the Board for the UT Alumni Association for 7 years, he now sits on the Alumni Board Advisory Council for the entire UT System. Mr. Taylor is also one of the co-founders for Outlook, a regional organization representing over 100 businesses who share a vision for a diverse and inclusive business community. “If you exclude any one segment of the population from business opportunity you miss out on talented people who can contribute to the local economy,” Chris said. “Everyone deserves an opportunity for a seat at the table--in business, finance, and education.”
Chris & his husband, Matthew, reside in the Nashville suburbs with their dogs, Ella and Oliver, and enjoy international travel--especially to Portugal, where they are dual citizens.
