NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville Launch Pad is entering its seventh season providing LGBTQ-affirming shelter for young adults experiencing homelessness during the cold weather months. Recent events remind us just how important safety measures are during a pandemic, which is why Launch Pad is returning to our motel-based shelter model beginning Nov. 1.
In order to provide a safe and warm motel room for our clients, Nashville Launch Pad is asking for donations from the community. If you can, please consider supporting Launch Pad and helping to keep our guests, staff and volunteers safe during this health emergency. https://nashvillelaunchpad.kindful.com/
Over the previous six years, Launch Pad has provided over 9000 beds for nearly 400 individuals.
Regarding last season, we provided nearly 1200 shelter/motel nights for 36 individuals, the majority of whom left the shelter program to enter more stable, permanent housing.
Donations will provide a night of motel stay for a guest. Here's what that means:
- A warm, safe place to sleep
- A secure place to store belongings
- Access to a private bathroom and shower
- Three meals per day
- Reliable wireless to check email and fill out applications for jobs and housing or do school work
- Laundry facilities
- Help with transportation
- A team of case managers and housing navigators with our partners at Oasis Center to help the guest move into permanent housing
The good news is that we have raised over $160,000 from recent grants toward this effort. But we still have further to go.
