CEO Brief- ?
I hope you are all holding up during these times of physical distancing and being cooped up at home. The days all blur together and I could not believe that today was Friday and it was time to write another brief. The beautiful spring weather has helped me this week and I have enjoyed walking my dog a lot! I struggle with taking 'me' time during this and I am working on that. I hope you are taking care of yourself physically and emotionally during this. Any tips? Would love to share them with other members.

Speaking of members, they never cease to amaze me. We had a member really step up this week and jump to our highest levels of membership. Thank you Music City Prep Clinic on becoming our first TITANIUM $12,000 level member. Our members also speak up and reach out. We heard back from so many members expressing thanks for our announcement last week on our pause of membership dues until we return to some type of normal.

They also told me what I have been hearing from others directly on, they are hurting and need assistance now. We hear you and understand, we have been frustrated like many of you, in watching the slow response of getting assistance in to peoples hands from these programs. We will continue to do what we can to make sure this is getting better. Read more in the COVID-19 section below on some policy issues we worked on this week.
We have also been busy creating several new programs and pushing old ones, to bring even more connections and educational opportunities to members and the community. Our Membership Manager Lauren Bland tells you all about them in a social video post this week.

We hope you are taking advantage of how we might help you. I am looking forward to talking with and highlighting our members next week with our first virtual Brewing Up Business! See details below.

As always we are in this together and we are here for you. Please let us know how we might help.

With you. -Joe
Coronavirus Response
The most important thing for small business owners to know about is the assistance programs from the government. There are two main programs out there, the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) that is loaned through the SBA, and the Paycheck Protection Program Loan (PPPL) that is loaned through financial institutions. The easiest and best breakdown of what these mean for you has come from the NFIB.

We know there is a frustration and concern about the response time and access to these loans. We continue to raise the issues with SBA and the banks, and also with our elected officials.

On Tuesday we made sure that Governor Lee heard from us and other business associations on how important it was to include self-employed individuals in the $600 bump in unemployment benefits that the state handles in giving out. We are glad this policy change was made and our 'gig-workers' and self-employed members will receive this assistance.
We launched a new website this week. We are collecting upcoming webinars, town halls, calls, and more on our Upcoming Learning Opportunities page. This is a great resource for anyone navigating the small business loan process, working from home for the first time, or just wanting to connect with the community.
In addition to upcoming learning opportunities, we are adding recordings and follow-up resources from previous webinars. Check these resources frequently for the latest information.
If your organization is hosting a virtual learning opportunity that you would like included on this list, please email Lauren.
We want you to support our members who have moved to delivery, take out, or curbside models. We are updating this page as members continue to adapt and alter their plans.

Check out the special page on our website to find where your next meal is coming from!
We want to support the TASTE vendors who support the Nashville LGBT Chamber!

We have created a special page on the website to highlight new products and services our TASTE vendors are offering at this time.

The COVID-19 situation changes hour by hour. We are continuing to post updates and connections to resources on our social media. Please follow us there for new and immediate information updates.
During these uncertain times, the Nashville LGBT Chamber stands by you. We know that running a business right now is difficult no matter its size, from gig-workers to small businesses to our corporations, we are all in this together and we are there for you.
Every day, we are  advocating  for our members and working to  educate  and  connect  you to resources, information, and relief.

Here is a summary of relevant updates from this week:

New and Renewing Members
We are so proud to announce Music City PrEP Clinic as our first-ever Titanium member!

?Previously a Gold member, Music City PrEP’s Titanium Membership highlights the tremendous recent growth of the Nashville LGBT Chamber.

Support from members like Music City PrEP is what makes our work possible. In the middle of an economic and health crisis, when many of our members and businesses are hurting, Music City PrEP is demonstrating that they care about our community and ensuring that LGBT people can thrive in business by supporting the work we do while supporting their health in the work that they do.

'With success and visibility comes responsibility, and we could not have reached this point in our trajectory this soon without the support of the LGBTQ+ community. It's an honor and our pleasure to support and participate in our community's chamber at the highest level.' said Rich MacKinnon, Executive Director of Music City PrEP.

Please help us in thanking Music City PrEP Clinic for their investment!
