CEO Brief- ?
Reopening of businesses in Nashville and across the state was the focus of a lot of time and energy this week. It consumed most of the work we focused on and I appreciate all the members that talked with me about their questions and concerns on the Mayor's plan. The pressure that I and other business leaders feel on getting this right and not bringing harm to people by opening up too fast is top of mind. I can not imagine what the Mayor is feeling as he creates and issues this plan. We are very appreciative of his office working with us and other business groups to help get this right. Read more about the plans below in the COVID-19 section.
It was great to get a 'sign' that things will be ok for the city when a rainbow appeared over Nashville as I finished a call about the plan Thursday. I share it to offer some hope and beauty for your day.

In the words of the Amazing Dolly Parton, 'If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.'
Let's hope we have a beautiful rainbow after this downpour we are in.
Our board of directors met on Monday night and review finances and also discuss the programs and initiatives of the Chamber. The staff shared what we have been working on and what we are proposing, take a look at the full programming plan for the Rainbow Connection series we are launching.

Speaking of our board, look how much they love you our members! They created signs of thanks that they asked us to share with you.
Our Board of Directors salutes our members, volunteers, and supporters! Thank you!

Part of the new Network Connect programming was our first AM Brewing Up Business. Over 50 chamber friends sipped coffee and made new connections over 40 minutes of chatting in two different breakout groups. Read more below and join us for the next one!
Lauren Bland, your Membership Manager, is coming to you this week with our Chamber Chat Check-in video telling you all about the email that went out to members breaking down how high our online traffic is and how to take advantage of it! Watch the video and let Lauren know how she can help you reach more people and get the most of your membership.
It is great to be talking with so many of you during this time. We are always here for whatever you need, and if you think of something we can help you with or see a need for, please reach out.

Hope you have a great weekend and stay safe and healthy.
Coronavirus Response
There are two plans that our members need to know about on reopening. There is a Tennessee plan/'pledge' released by the Governor Friday, and then there is the Nashville plan that was released by Mayor Cooper  on Thursday. The Nashville Plan is well thought out and based on data not on dates. If you are in Davidson County you need to follow the Mayor's plan.

Under Mayor John Cooper’s  four-phase plan  to safely reopen Nashville businesses  Reopening could start in early May if there is positive improvement of metrics for  14 days , and the city will only move to the next phase if there is positive improvement/stability in metrics for 14 days. I am troubled by the increase in cases over the last few days and we should watch closely if these numbers change the start date of Phase 1 from May 4th as most expect it to start. We will keep you updated on this.

The plan for Nashville’s  Roadmap for Reopening   is a major step forward, but we must stay the course. We need to continue practices like wearing masks and social distancing to get to Phase 1, and we must remain cautious and vigilant to get to Phase 4. Throughout the development of the reopening plan, we advocated strongly on behalf of our industry with the overall health and safety of residents and visitors as a priority.

We have several concerns and questions about the plan, as do many of our members form multiple industries and business sizes. I have compiled them and shared them with Mayor Coopers Office. We are actively working with them on these concerns and getting the answers and clarification back to members. Let us know what we can help you with on understanding and complying with the plan.

The one thing I have heard from so many of you is that you want to get this right the first time and not have to shut down again. We hear you and we agree. We will continue to advocate for that.
Congress approved and the President signed new funding for the Payroll Protection Program.
We are eager to hear if you applied and were originally denied due to lack of funds, if you are approved. Please let us know.
If you have not applied you should do so quickly as the funds are expected to run out quickly again.
We are collecting upcoming webinars, town halls, calls, and more on our Upcoming Learning Opportunities page. This is a great resource for anyone navigating the small business loan process, working from home for the first time, or just wanting to connect with the community.
In addition to upcoming learning opportunities, we are adding recordings and follow-up resources from previous webinars. Check these resources frequently for the latest information.

What We Did
We had a great time connecting with everyone at our AM Brewing Up Business Thursday morning! We had a very diverse group of networkers from many different fields. If you missed this opportunity, here are some items from the event:

From the survey of participants, we are finding that our members want to feel connected to other people now more than ever. Our virtual networking events create a space for you to see old friends and new faces and to escape your four walls. We hope everyone will join us for our future networking events. See registration details below.
Our board and staff were happy to attend Conexion Americas for their annual fundraising event, Cafecito, on Friday morning. We enjoyed music and stories about the work Conexion Americas does for Nashville's immigrant community.

We want to see your new workspace! If you are working from home, we bet you have some new colleagues. Lauren started the post with sharing her dog, Penni, 'working' alongside her.

Stay engaged and share your at-home photos on Facebook , Instagram , or Twitter !

We are excited to announce our new Rainbow Connection Series . These programs include webinars, networking events, and other educational meetings to help our members and community stay connected and informed while we navigate the 'new normal'. When we come back to being able to meet in person, we will keep these programs going.
Member Connect
We are proud to kick-off our new program, Member Connect . This event will give an in-depth highlight of one of our corporate members and one of our small business members. We will have a Q&A session and have other attendees speak to the group to check-in with other members. You will have the opportunity to talk about what you are working on, questions or issues you need help with, or anything else you want to address.
Classroom Connect
Classroom Connect is a new program designed to assist our members and community as a part of the Nashville LGBT Chamber's Rainbow Connection Series. Each session will highlight a new, unique topic that assists the LGBT community. We will engage with other organizations to keep you informed and connected to opportunities. In our first Classroom Connect, we will talk about certifying your business as an LGBT Business Enterprise and leveraging your certification to do work with Metro and corporate members. We will talk to current certified LGBTBEs in our area and leaders of Metro’s Business Assistance Office and NGLCC.

We would love to utilize the expertise of our members to present at each session. Are you willing to present on a topic you are an expert at? Please provide some details in this survey and we will contact you shortly to schedule your Classroom Connection. You can also give us some ideas for topics you would like to see at a future session.
Network Connect - Brewing Up Business
To complement our traditional Brewing Up Business, we will now offer additional morning networking opportunities, AM Brewing Up Business . These events will include a short program of announcements from our chamber's staff and then small group networking. We will break the larger group into small rooms to exchange information and let peers know you are doing at this time. We will break into small groups several times during the event.
We will also continue to offer our monthly Brewing Up Business virtually on the third Thursday of every month. We will raise a glass and make connections in small groups.
