CEO Brief

We are back with the COVID section in the Weekly. This as the Delta variant continues to push cases up around the country and here locally. Vanderbilt Medical Center announced yesterday that they are at capacity. Read about other programs and updates in the COVID section below. We are all still in this together and we need to push hard to get this under control as quickly as possible.

I am feeling better and fully recovered from my COVID breakthrough case. Thanks for all the well wishes. The outbreak of the Delta variant that I was exposed to has continued to grow and make national headlines. This article is a good breakdown of the outbreak and talks about how it was an early warning sign of what we are all facing now.

Just a reminder on things that Lauren sent on Monday. We are requiring membership starting this month so please pay your invoice, and let us know if you can’t, we can make an arrangement. And we are looking for places to host Brewing Up Business, please fill out this form if you are interested.

We will be making the announcement for the location for August on Monday. We are still confirming a few more details. It is going to be something different and unique that you won’t want to miss!

COVID-19 UPDATE

Unfortunately, we have had to bring back the COVID section. We saw our highest-ever one-month percent change in active cases from July to August. The current number of active cases is now similar to our mid-November and early-February active case counts. Nashville’s average number of new COVID-19 cases per day is similar to the end of June 2020 (1st wave) and early-November 2020 (2nd wave) numbers. Now is the time to get vaccinated if you are not, to protect your health and your family’s health. Learn more about vaccination options here.

Some good news, last week vaccinations were up 47% over the past seven days compared to the average of the four previous weeks. The city has a 53% vaccination rate, which is one of the highest in the state. We cannot say it enough: Please get vaccinated and encourage all those around you to get the vaccine. The success of our economy and city depends on it.

Do you need MORE reasons to get vaccinated or educate and get others vaccinated? A program was announced this week that rewards you for getting people vaccinated. The “Refer to Win” campaign was created in partnership with Mayor Cooper’s Office, the Metro Public Health Department, and the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp.

Contest Details: You can win one of 20 different prizes by referring friends and family to get vaccinated. Find out further details here and get to vaccinating!

We also want to point out the local businesses that have moved to requiring people to be vaccinated to enter. You can read more about this here and if you are considering doing this we are happy to offer any assistance in implementing. The Mayor has also ordered masks be worn in Metro facilities.
