CEO Brief- ?
Can you believe how fast the year and now December has sped by? We have two weeks before the Christmas holiday and the end of 2019, and there are a lot of things going on before that.

This week was a busy one. Lauren held everything down in Nashville, attending many events with our members and our community partners. Read more about those below. I have been in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the Council of State Governments conference. I talked to many people across the country that are facing similar legislative issues that we are in Tennessee, in regards to anti-LGBT legislation and the impact on business and a state's reputation. It has been great to collaborate with others to see what is working well for them and tell them the things that work for us.

One of the things we do is serve on the steering committee of Tennessee Thrives , the coalition of businesses that oppose discriminatory legislation. We had a call gearing up for the legislative session starting in January. We have several bills from last year that will be up in senate committees and there are new bills that we expect to be filed. We need you to be ready to engage with us to stop all of them.

One of the really great things I was able to do at this conference is speak to the Tennessee legislators that are also down here attending, on a one on one, out of session, conversation. Talking with people and listening to their side while also explaining yours, in a non-combative way, can go a long way to bridging differences and building understanding. I thinks this trip has been a success in that way.

I am back this weekend and I hope to see ALL of you at our annual meeting and holiday party Thursday. This is our year-end celebration and always a good time. We need you to be there and confirm the board slate you will be presented with. It's a great one and I am looking forward to serving with them. You the members have an important role in this Chamber and we need you to come hear about what we have done and vote for your leadership. See you there.

What We Did
We had a great planning call with the Nashville Children's Theatre . We are teaming up to bring you some exciting events.

First, the Nashville Children's Theatre will host our December Brewing Up Business Annual Meeting and Holiday Party on Thursday, December 12th . Dream Events & Catering , winner of TASTE 2019's Best Booth Decor award, will cater this event. Please join us for this special networking event by registering below. We will celebrate the year's accomplishments and you the members will approve the new Board of Directors slate of candidates. Look for that slate email to come on Monday.
We also finalized what will be an incredible event around Nashville Children Theatre 's run of ' Secret Soldiers: Civil War Heroines in Disguise '. The secret history of women who fought as men in the civil war is revealed in this intersectional production.

Our member, AllianceBernstein , will sponsor the run of this show. They will also co-host a reception before and Q&A session following a special screening on Friday, January 24th . Please see details for this event below and make plans to attend. Many of our corporate members are planning to bring employees of various employee resource groups as the play has such intersectionality with many different groups. You don't want to miss this play or the discussion after the screening.
We attended the Partnership 2030 Advisory Committee Conversation on Wednesday. We reviewed a 'vital signs' survey for Middle Tennessee and continued the conversation on how diverse organizations can work together to ensure prosperity for all.
Thank you to the Nashville Area Chamber for leading this initiative.
On Wednesday we heard results from the Community Visioning Project Survey powered by  Nashville Pride  and discussed next steps for our community based on those results. We are excited to collaborate with other organizations in our area to ensure safety and success for our LGBT community. Stay tuned for more details on next steps and how you can get involved. See survey results here .
We attended our member Pathway Lending 's 20th Anniversary Open House on Thursday. Pathway has helped so many small businesses in our community and we are happy to continue to partner with them!
We will be at GLOW Nashville tonight at First Tennessee Park. Look for updates on our social media accounts! Tickets are available so grab yours now!
