the Weekly Wrap-Up will be made available to members and non-members.

We are here for you and in this together.

CEO Brief

Happy Valentine's Day! We wanted to share a little LOVE this week to our members and friends. Lauren created some social posts with a call to share local businesses, favorite members, and more! Check them out and share the LOVE.

Speaking of LOVE, I LOVED talking to our members on Thursday for this month’s Member Connect. We had a great conversation and highlighted the work of two great members, small and LGBT owned business Schmidt Government Solutions talked about lobbying and advocacy, and corporate member Amazon spoke about government affairs and the incredible work they have done in the Nashville community since moving here. I hope you will watch and LOVE it as much as I did. Let us know if you wanted to be profiled in the future!

We do not feel any LOVE for LGBT people at the Tennessee State Legislature. The transgender community specifically is under attack from discriminatory legislation. The first anti-LGBT bill was heard this week and more are coming. Please check out the Legislative Update below and prepare to take action. We will be releasing a signup for our open letter of Tennessee Businesses Opposed to Discrimination next week.

We LOVE you, our members and friends, and hope you have a great Valentine’s Day! Stay warm, wear your mask, and keep socially distanced.

Coronavirus Response

Our member Old Town Trolley Tours of Nashville is offering to all police, fire, EMT, and healthcare workers in the state of Tennessee free admission for themselves and a guest now through February 28, 2021. The offer extends for both the Winter Day Tour and the Soul of Music City Night Tour. Reservations are required along with work identification. Read the entire Press Release here.

Legislative Update

LGBT Tennesseans and the state’s reputation as a welcoming place are both under attack at the State Capitol. This was quite the week in advocacy and things are only going to get worse.

The anti-trans student-athlete bill had its first hearing on Tuesday and it moved forward. Then on Wednesday Governor Lee spoke out on that billshocking many with his support  and stating “I do believe that transgenders participating in women’s sports will destroy women’s sports.” On Thursday Lt. Governor McNally then singled little interest in pursuing, and a need to move cautiously, in the Senate

TEP has their full list of legislation they are monitoring. Follow them for action alerts to directly engage legislators in opposition to bills. We will be asking for signers of our new open letter of Tennessee Businesses Opposed to Discrimination next week, we hope you will sign. It will be similar to our letter we released last year.
