The Weekly

Wrap Up

February 18, 2022

What the Chamber worked on this week and what you need to know.

CEO Brief

Our members are OPEN and EQUAL and they are proud of it! New membership stickers went out and our members are showing their pride by posting and sharing them on social media. Keep them coming and follow these hashtags: #openandequal #proudmember2022 #nashlgbtcc

We handed out another sticker to our newest member last night at an incredible Brewing Up Business. Charity Dowell, owner of di'Vine House, welcomed us with open arms and attendees felt at home and loved the space. diVine house, a Black-owned business, was the perfect spot to celebrate Black History Month. Check out pictures and more of a wrap-up in the CONNECT section below.

We shot a video this week for Predators Pride Night! We have heard from a lot of you asking if you have missed it and when it will be. You have not missed it, and we will be making an announcement soon on all the details. It is going to be the best one yet!

We have two great programs coming up next week! You don't want to miss them.

ADVOCATE

Three of the four bills on the Priority Bill List that we targeted to stop are up in committees next week. The House k-12 Subcommittee will hear the “Anti-Trans Athlete Enforcement Fine” and the “Anti-Pronouns in Schools” bills. And the Senate Health and Welfare Committee will hear the “Youth Healthcare Ban” bill. We are coordinating with business lobbyists on these bills and they are actively engaging with legislators.

For individuals who want to take action, our partners the Tennessee Equality Project and the ACLU have campaigns on the bills that you can participate in. We hope you will.

Large corporate businesses are being asked to sign the national letter that our partners Freedom For All Americans and the HRC are coordinating. This letter would be used here in Tennessee as a way to show the wide national objection to these bills from corporations.

EDUCATE

Classroom Connect - Grow with Google

Our education series is back for 2022 and this year we will be highlighting curriculum from Grow With Google. In our first installment, Make Your Website Work for You, learners will discover how to create a search-friendly website that drives user action and supports their goals. Our member Tolbert Marketing and Events will facilitate this program on Thursday, February 24th at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center.

HRC CEI: Getting to 100

Join fellow ERG leaders on Wednesday, April 13th for a small group session to share tips and walk through the application process for the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index. This session aims to help first-time applicants or companies below 100 reach that top score. In this session, ERG leaders across the country will share insights gained, challenges experienced, and top tips for reaching 100. Register now!

We hosted Brewing Up Business yesterday and celebrated Black History Month! Thank you to our hosts at di'Vine House for providing a welcoming, beautiful location for our members to connect. You can look at photos or watch the announcements if you missed it.

We attended our member Music City Baseball's Open House this week to kick off their new office space! We are so excited to continue our partnership as they work to bring an MLB team to Nashville. Nashville Stars merchandise will be available at our "Singled Out" event on Tuesday!
