Weekly Wrap-Up- 1-25-19

Happy Friday Members! Hope you had a good week. Our week was filled with lots of meetings and work on the member survey that is coming your way on Tuesday. We are talking to a lot of people right now on exciting partnerships and opportunities. With members, we are meeting with them and talking about membership levels and opportunities for the new year. We are happy to meet with you and talk about anything, just reach out. On the survey, we are looking forward to gathering information on what you need out of the Chamber and making sure we are meeting those needs with educational and networking opportunities. Members are going to be able to tell us how you feel about a number of different topics, as well as pick the new membership sticker and other important choices.

Police Oversight Board-

Tuesday the Metro council chose members for the newly formed Police Oversight Board. I was very pleased with the choices for the board and the overall makeup. I was thrilled that there were two members that identified as LGBT on the eleven-member board. The Chamber did not endorse any candidates but I lobbied hard to have LGBT representation factored in on the choices. I thank council members for listening and voting for diversity.

We got two incredible members of the community on the board, both with long and strong relationships with the Chamber. Ashlee Davis and Andres Martinez have both been involved in the Chamber in many ways and we look forward to continuing our work together with them in their new important roles.

Read more about the Oversight board and find out about Ashlee and Andres by reading this Out and About article that I was quoted in.

Predators Pride Night-

Another reminder on this! But seriously, if you don’t have your tickets you need to get them now!!

Get your tickets here and use code PRIDE18 to see available seats in the designated Pride Night sections. Every ticket purchased with that code gets a free Preds Pride Night shirt. They are awesome quality and thanks to new member Big Frog for printing them.

Remember the pre-game reception starting at 5:30 and open to everyone. We will hear from the Sean Henry, CEO of the Nashville Predators on why Pride night is important to the Predators and the NHL. The reception is sponsored by Postmates and they are getting us some delicious foods and a special handout to all attendees!

About GHOST-  Ghost is a middle school boy who’s had a rough past and has an unclear future. Without intention, his running speed impresses Coach Brody – an Olympic medalist in Track and Field - who invites Ghost to join the elite team of teens he trains, The Defenders. Throughout the humorous play, Ghost builds a new family and develops trust. We see him face his own mistakes and learn that he doesn’t have to be alone while he does it.  https://www.nashvillechildrenstheatre.org/ghost/
