CEO Brief |
Where did January go? I can’t believe it is February!
HRC Corporate Equality Index (CEI) scores came out and are the big news of the week. These scores are such an important way to show the commitment to LGBT equality that companies have, and we are always proud and excited to share these scores with members and the community.
This is the 20th year of the CEI and boy how time changes things. The first year there were 319 participants and 13 companies that got 100, none of those Nashville LGBT Chamber members. This year over 1,2000 participants and more than 800 top scorers, 20 of those being Nashville LGBT Chamber members!
One of those scoring a 100 that I would like to point out is our Platinum member Tractor Supply. They jumped from 70 last year to 100 this year! 4 years ago they were about as low as you could score. We are so proud of them and all of the companies reaching 100, for dedicating themselves to this work and having goals to get to 100 and change the programs and internal structures you have to change to get there. Read more about the CEI report and see the full list of members below.
Have a great weekend and hope you are staying warm.

ADVOCATE |
We are continuing to monitor bills that are being filed at the legislature. There is definitely a theme this year, where bills are written very broadly about a subject and LGBT discrimination can be achieved. We are seeing this in youth-healthcare and education-related bills.
Our community partner the Tennessee Equality Project (TEP) has identified some bills that they are running campaigns on. Those can be seen here.
We wanted to share an article with you from Sports Illustrated, that highlights the lawsuit and trans student filing suit here in Tennessee against the anti-trans sports bill. |
2022 Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index |
|
The Human Rights Campaign released its 20th annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI) this week. The inaugural edition of the CEI included 319 participants, with 13 companies achieving top scores. The 20th-anniversary edition now includes over 1,200 participants and more than 800 top scorers.
We want to congratulate the 20 Nashville LGBT Chamber members who scored 100. These corporations scored points with nondiscrimination policies across entities, equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families, supporting an inclusive culture, and corporate social responsibility.
