Your MEMBER ONLY email on all things the Chamber worked on this week

and what you need to know to get the most out of your membership.

Thank you for being a member.

During this time of national crisis, when information and connections are so important,

the Weekly Wrap-Up will be made available to members and non-members.

We are here for you and in this together.

CEO Brief

I hope you had a good weekend. The Weekly is coming a few days late as I moved houses on Friday and was not able to sit down and write this until now. My husband and I moved back to the Belmont neighborhood from Germantown after we remodeled our home. It has been a process and we are so fortunate to have been able to do it, especially during these tumultuous times. I was proud to be able to use Nashville LGBT Chamber members for all parts of the process. From the design and construction of the house to the movers that moved us. We were able to support businesses that support LGBT equality, that their businesses are OPEN and EQUAL, and y’all does mean all. Check out my social to see who we used and what the project looked like, and I will be sure to leave reviews and thank them, something I hope you will do for businesses that you use.

Speaking of supporting equality, the HRC Equality Index scores came out and it was wonderful to see even more members on the list. So many scored 100 and we had several discussions this week with soon to be new members that we will be working with to raise their scores. Check out the full report and see who made the list below, and remember to support those that support you.

It was a full day of broadcasting Thursday when we presented our Classroom Connect program on LGBT certified businesses. We talked with the NGLCC National LGBT Chamber and the Metro Nashville Business Assistance Office on certifying and registering, and then LGBT certified businesses on finding new business opportunities. I highly recommend ALL business owners take a look at the video. After that, it was on to an interview with Out and About Today for a show in February that will focus solely on the Chamber and our work.

It was a very busy but good week as we wrapped up January. Check it out below and thanks again for being a member!

Coronavirus Response

Mayor Copper tweaked COVID restrictions on Thursday. The change allows bars to stay open slightly later, as well as other small changes. The city also opened the Music City Center to better distribute vaccines. While both of these sound promising and good, we are still nowhere near out of the woods. Keep wearing your mask (or two) and physically distancing. We all are in this together and have to do our part.

We are working with the NGLCC and other LGBT affiliate chambers to bring you a program on PPP2. If you have now applied already you should do so now.

We have added several new items to our COVID-19 Resource page including Employer Retention Tax Credits, upcoming webinars, vaccine information for employers, and more. Check out this page for new information here.

Our member TN Event Designs has shifted gears. They now offer contact tracing and temperature screening, allowing access to a process that best protects anyone within your facility and provides the safest experience for your event. You can learn more here.

Legislative Update

We updated several more corporate members about the current legislative session and what we are watching in potential anti-LGBT bills, bills that will harm a companies ability to attract, support, and retain the talent they need.

Our member and partner Tennessee Equality Project has identified three dangerous bills that have already been filed against the LGBTQIA+ community. These bills affect transgender student athletes, marriage equality, and LGBTQ-inclusive training sessions. You can read about these bills and more here.

WSMV News 4, Nashville interviewed our CEO Joe Woolley and other community members about the new presidential order for LGBTQ protections. Watch this interview and read more here

What We Did

The Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index scores came out and we want to celebrate the 25 Nashville LGBT Chamber members who scored 100. These corporations scored points with nondiscrimination policies across entities, equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families, supporting an inclusive culture, and corporate social responsibility.
