CEO Brief -

With the release of the worst economic numbers in US history this week, we continue to hope for better days ahead. Cases continued to rise this week with state numbers showing the second-highest spike in deaths with Friday’s numbers. With a slight decrease in day to day numbers out of Metro, but with regional hospital beds dropping to new lows, the Mayor extended the Modified Phase 2 until August 14th, keeping bars closed and restaurants, gyms, barbershops, and other "high-touch businesses" remain operating at 50% of their normal capacity. Retail stores are limited to 75% capacity. Gatherings are capped at 25 people.
We all have to do our part and that still starts with wearing a mask. We have been pushing mask-wearing since the first days of the pandemic and we were excited to join a larger coalition of community partners doing the same.

Our member NashvilleHealth organized and launched the  Mask For Nash campaign  this week and we were happy to join.  We created an LGBTQ+ inclusive pride mask sign  for the campaign and hope members will print and display it. Read more about the campaign below and on the  site
Rep. John Lewis was laid to rest yesterday. I joined millions in  watching the memorial service  and remembering a truly amazing person and advocate for equality. If you have not you should  read the letter he wrote in his final hours and was published on the day of the memorial . It is a call to action to keep pushing forward and fighting for change. The most important thing you can do for that is to  VOTE

Early voting ends Saturday for the August 6th election.  Show your Pride at the Polls and go vote early VOTE Saturday, or on Thursday for Election Day.  Then be ready to do it again in October for the General Election.

We have more news and announcements below. I just watched our LGBT certified business  Social Link   pitch to a national audience  and they nailed it! I am so proud of them and all our members as you continue to work and fight to keep going in these times. We are there with you and here for you.

What We Did
Alongside partners from across the community,  NashvilleHealth   announced the launch of #MaskForNash or #ÚselaPorNash – a community-wide effort to encourage citizens to care for our hometown by wearing a mask or cloth face covering when in public.

Joe Woolley, CEO of the Nashville LGBT Chamber said,  “We are thrilled to be joining this community initiative to help push people to wear a mask and show that we are all in this together and need to do our part. We have been pushing mask-wearing and showing pride from the beginning of the epidemic, partnering with Metro Health and the Mayor’s Office. It is great to see our community partners working together on this under this campaign, and we are grateful for Nashville Health for spearheading it.”
