Pride month is still going strong. We are 3 events into the 15 we have planned. The wine dinner Thursday was wonderful, thanks to all that made it possible. I hope you will join us Saturday morning for our Pride Yoga at Shakti. Buy your tickets for the Fashion Show and Soccer Pride Night, tickets are going fast, don’t wait. I tweaked our Pride message on the meaning of Pride and submitted it to Main Street Nashville and it ran this week. I also gave the invocation at Rotary on Monday and tied it to the rainbow flag and the history of Pride, you can watch it here. It was an honor to do both. If you’re interested in joining Rotary, I would love to take you as my guest. We are working hard to make Rotary more inclusive and diverse. This and every PRIDE month we celebrate, but we also have to honor, remember, and reflect on the 49 lives lost in the Orlando PULSE nightclub shooting on June 12, 2016. This is the 5th anniversary. Our thoughts are with the families who lost loved ones during that tragic day and the 53 people who were wounded in this senseless act of hatred and violence against the LGBTQ+ community. We stand strong together and we will never forget. It was great to meet with Mayor Cooper’s new Economic and Community Development Director on Wednesday and talk about what we can do to bring more prosperity to our small businesses and keep our business investments going all across the city. There were a few other great Pride events. Speaking to Representative Cooper’s staff today and getting my BNA Pride shirt out at the airport were a few other highlights. Have a great weekend and I hope to see you at one of our Pride events soon. |
