Pride in Business 3rd Quarter Meeting-
Our Pride in Business group met on Tuesday for our Q3 meeting at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center. Thank you to Postmates for providing lunch! We discussed PRIDE’s "What's Next for LGBTQ+ Nashville" conversations that have been taking place and how LGBT business leaders in our community can get involved, a recap of Nashville PRIDE, and what we are all working on for the last part of 2019. These invaluable meetings give LGBT corporate ERG leaders the chance to share success stories, ideas, and programs to help strengthen diverse and inclusive workplaces. Our Q4 meeting will be held on October 22nd and will be hosted by Warner Music Group. If you or someone in your company would like to be included in this group, please reach out to Lauren.
Work on the Road
The majority of my week was spent down in Atlanta, Georgia working with the new executive director of Atlanta LGBT Chamber of Commerce. I talked to him and their board about how we operate and the different programs we offer. I also met with other LGBT leaders in the city. We had several meetings with the mayor Keisha Bottoms, her LGBT liasion, and her LGBT advisory council. We spoke with them on how we got LGBT Business Enterprise certification recognized by Nashville and how they might go about doing the same in Atlanta. I also heard several great ideas and opportunities that we might implement in Nashville and will be sharing those with other LGBT organizations and the Mayor's office. Collaboration is the key to continue moving the needle on equality and it was great to collaborate with our friends further down South.
On the way back today, I stopped and spoke with LGBT business owners in Chattanooga about how to create an LGBT chamber down there. The Nashville LGBT Chamber Board is considering many ideas when it comes to Chamber growth throughout the state of Tennessee. Let me know if you are interested in hearing more about this and we will keep all members up-to-date. It is wonderful to see interest in all major cities across the state wanting to be part of the Chamber.
We are so happy about our partnership with Diskin Cider with the re-release of Daydream, Prickly Pear Rosé Cider. Just like last year, a portion of these proceeds will go to the Nashville LGBT Chamber Foundation to support efforts to educate, inspire and empower LGBT business professionals. Not only can you grab Daydream in the Diskin Cider taproom, but you can also stop by any of the locations on this map and bring some to your next outing. 70 locations were added this week to include the Knoxville, Chattanooga, Memphis, and more!

Following June’s 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York (considered the birth of the modern LGBTQIA movement), it seems fair and necessary to highlight several films which have helped to document the history of the queer community. The Belcourt Theatre brings you the film series “Queer Qlassics”. Make plans to attend one of the following showings:
The Queen, Wednesday, July 31st, 7:00 pm: Post-screening performance/discussion with Anita Coxx, Tammy Whynot and Thierry Meisel of the SheHaw drag show
Nashville’s Startup Shindig
Come on out to the Nashville Startup Shindig happening the evening of Wednesday, July 31st at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center. This event will bring together entrepreneurs, business leaders, startups, creators, and the people and organizations helping Nashville become the best place in America to start a business. So, whether your company is still just a dream, you are in the thick of starting and growing your venture, or you are interested in meeting the people behind our city's amazing small businesses, we want you there. Come on out to this free event to network with the doers and shakers in our city, enjoy music, and see why Nashville’s startup ecosystem has the country buzzing. I will be participating in the opening panel discussion/podcast with other minority chamber leaders.
Community Visioning Project Survey
Our region has gone through unprecedented growth and change over the last few years that have impacted the lives of our community in multiple ways -- both positive and negative. These changes have led us to ask the question, what does our LGBTQ+ community in Middle Tennessee need in order to thrive? Take part in the Community Visioning Project Survey to join the conversation. If you would be interested in hosting a conversation with your business, social group or organization -- please email email@example.com. The prospectus on the project can be found here.
