The Weekly Wrap-Up 06/26/20

Your MEMBER ONLY email on all things the Chamber worked on this week
and you need to know about, to get the most of your membership.
Thank you for being a member.
During this time of national crisis, when information and connections are so important,
the Weekly Wrap-Up will be made available to members and non-members.

CEO Brief -
?From sitting next to my husband crying and watching the breaking news, to the explosion of text messages from friends and family, the impromptu rally that several of us at the Chamber organized at noon at the State Capitol, rushing down to watch our friend and former CEO Lisa Howe marry her wife at the clerk’s office officiated by the Mayor, and then the huge celebration that lasted all Pride weekend long. Truly amazing.

As we reflect on this momentous day and the new SCOTUS decision on LGBT workers protection from two weeks ago,  let us remember that the fight is not over . While these changes to law only protect LGBTQ+ people to a certain extent, there is so much more to fight for. Access to health care, housing, public accommodations, employment opportunities, and even the very right to stay alive are things we have to keep fighting for. Let us also recognize and remember that these are even more challenging to access for our people of color and trans brothers and sisters.  We cannot stop and must keep pushing forward, together.
We have been so busy with  Pride In Local Music  this week. We are really looking forward to the show tonight. I want to thank Lauren for all her hard work, as well as the  Austin LGBT Chamber , production companies, artists, sponsors, and  everyone involved . Also to the community for all the support and sharing of the event. I hope you enjoy it.
A lot of talk about Pride month and the movement. It is great that the media and other organizations are talking about the important issues we have left to achieve. I am looking forward to  talking with Vice Mayor Jim Schulman and Abby Rubenfeld Saturday morning about this.
Take a look at the COVID info below. We all need to be paying attention on these numbers that are surging and do our part to stop them.

Coronavirus Response
COVID-19 infections are spiking.  Nashville remains in Phase 3  even with this happening. Facemasks are the focus of discussion and the Mayor is thinking of making the wearing of them mandatory here in Davidson County. The Governor has said he is not.
We are hearing from many member businesses on what they should do to keep their employees and customers safe, and how to be a good community citizen. Our guidance is to follow CDC and local health department guidelines. Public health officials continue to emphasize safety measures, including social distancing, wearing face coverings, and keeping social gatherings to 25 people or less. Please help us keep our city safe!
Check out all of our COVID-19 updates on our website and the COVID-19 Resource page.
We are proud to announce that more than 600 businesses have signed on to our Good to Go program in the short time since announcing it a month ago. We are thrilled to see green music note decals going up all across Nashville at businesses committed to the health and safety of visitors and residents. A list of participating businesses can be found at  goodtogonashville.com , and the green music note icon is also displayed on the profiles of participating businesses on the  NCVC website .

Phase 3 is a reflection of our new normal: staying home when you can, wearing face coverings in public, and practicing social distancing. We appreciate all you’re doing to keep our city safe.

Legislative Update
Make sure you read our  End of Session Legislative Wrap-Up from last week. We will give you an update when we hear about the potential special session.
