We survived an incredible Pride weekend, read more about that below. After resting Monday morning we were back at it. It has been a busy week with lots going on and some incredible opportunities for members and information that you should know about. Take a look below.
New and Renewing Members-
Please join us in welcoming the following businesses that joined our Chamber this week:
Desmond’s Catering- individual member
Keith Bush- individual member
We are proud of the continued participation from the following individuals and businesses who renewed their membership this week:
There are two surveys that we are asking all members to take part in, we really need your input.
The first is our membership survey. If you haven’t already, please take a few minutes to complete our 2019 Membership Survey! This is your Chamber and we want to know what you would like to see us focus on and what our priorities should be going forward!
The second is the Nashville Community Visioning Project’s Public Survey. Complete this survey and share your thoughts about the future of LGBTQ+ Nashville!
Wow! Nashville really showed its PRIDE this weekend! No one could rain on our parade. There were so many records set and Nashville Pride did such an amazing job. We are so proud and thankful to the board and all the volunteers of PRIDE that made it happen.
The Pride Parade had over 100 organizations walking down Broadway with 25,000+ people of all walks watching! So many members were represented as was the LGBT Chamber.
After the parade, we moved over to the Nashville Pride Festival at Public Square Park where 75,000+ people spent the weekend showing their PRIDE! We were able to talk to guests at our booth to highlight the Chamber and all we have to offer our community. We handed out over 2,000 scavenger hunt cards and talked to over 1,200 people that signed up for our newsletter. Thank you again for everyone who volunteered their time at the LGBT Chamber booth. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Nashville Business Journal-
What a way to wrap up Pride month with this coverage.
Take a look at our members that were spotlighted at our June Brewing Up Business event by Nashville Business Journal in their piece Business of Pride. We are lucky to have such strong and amazing business leaders and entrepreneurs in the Chamber and the city. We are so proud of you and all the other members that could have been highlighted for their work!
Nashville Business Journal also published an article today which talks about Out Leadership’s Business Climate Index. Tennessee routinely garners praise as one of the country's best states for business, but there's one index where the Volunteer State doesn't top the charts: LGBT inclusion. While we have come so far, this is a reminder of how much further we have to go.
I talked about several things the main thing was- "California couldn't get a higher score. but businesses are leaving there. That shows business decisions are driving companies to come here, but [LGBT inclusion] is what they're focused on once they get here," the chamber chief said. "There's a disconnect between the political and cultural climate in Tennessee. Who's going to change who is the bigger question."
Diskin Cider Daydream Re-Release
Our generous member Diskin Cider is proud to announce the re-release of Daydream, their Prickly Pear Rosé Cider, available in their tasting room Friday, June 21st! Just like last year, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Nashville LGBT Chamber Foundation to support efforts to educate, inspire, and empower LGBT business professionals. The specialty cider will now also be available in 16 oz cans and will be distributed throughout Nashville and various other Tennessee markets for a limited time. Come celebrate an incredible cause and #dangerouslygood cider all at once. We are in the process of planning of Happy Hour event to celebrate this re-release. Stay tuned for details! Cheers Friends!

William Morris Endeavor Agency Pride Event-
William Morris Endeavor Agency hosted an event on Wednesday for Pride. Panelists including Nancy Van Reece, Dr. Marisa Richmond, and myself discussed diversity, inclusion, and equity issues here in Nashville as part of Pride month.
It has been great talking to so many corporations this month on PRIDE and business. We spoke to 11 corporate and community members throughout the month. We are happy to discuss what we do and the community in general anytime, not just in June. Let us know.
Waller Pride Event-
Our longtime member Waller hosted a Pride month happy hour celebration on Wednesday, the first of its kind for this company! Abby Rubenfeld and Bill Harbison served as the guest speakers. This week marked the anniversary of some high-profile LGBT rights cases, including marriage equality case four years ago that the pair worked on. It was incredible to hear their stories and realized how far we have come as a community to ensure equal rights for everyone.
Amazon Event- Come Build the Future With Us-
Our corporate member Amazon hosted an event today called “Come Build the Future with Us”. Community members met with Amazon teams, learned about the company and their commitment to Nashville, and talked about ways to form partnerships together. There are many opportunities that we would love to connect our members to with Amazon.
Vanderbilt Comprehensive Care Clinic’s 25th Anniversary Gala-
To celebrate its momentous 25th year serving persons living with HIV in Nashville and Middle Tennessee, the Vanderbilt Comprehensive Care Clinic (VCCC) will host a gala to honor those affected by HIV, those who have supported the VCCC and its mission, and to reignite HIV awareness among the Nashville community TOMORROW. This gala will feature live performances by celebrated Nashville artists Daphne Willis and Jesse Lee. True to the VCCC's long history of community partnership, all food, drinks and event sponsorship will be provided by local Nashville businesses. Over 350 guests are expected in the Vanderbilt Commodore Ballroom on Saturday, June 29, 2019, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
