and you need to know about, to get the most of your membership.
Thank you for being a member.
During this time of national crisis, when information and connections are so important,
the Weekly Wrap-Up will be made available to members and non-members.
CEO Brief -
' I am here to recruit you. Come out. You gotta give them hope .' All are things that Harvey Milk said . A hero of mine and so many others, we remember him today on what would have been his 90th birthday.

The quote for me that resonates the most, ' If a bullet should enter my brain, let that bullet destroy every closet door.' Tragically that bullet did enter but from it so many closet doors were torn down and the movement for equality intensified.
This week was all about reopening, the continuation of Phase One, and the start of Phase Two on Monday. You should have received the email from me yesterday, breaking down the major changes in the next phase.
I also spoke to Out and About on it and you can see that interview here

We also discussed the things we are doing for our members, and one of those that I am very proud of is the reopening survey that many of you have completed and that we are then sharing the results on. This was Lauren's idea and it has turned out great. Thanks Lauren for all the hard work on taking care of our members!

Check out the member businesses that are open and what they are doing to keep their customers safe. Then support them! With the start of Pride month we are really going to push the need to support LGBT and ally business now more than ever as we come out of quarantine. Support those that support us.

Look for some exciting and big announcement coming next week around Pride Month news, promotions, and events. We are watching the legislature, check below in that section on why.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend. We will be taking Monday off. We hope you stay safe and enjoy some time for yourself. Stay healthy.

Joe

Legislative Update
The Tennessee Legislature is coming back next week. The House will be holding hearing on several of controversial and discriminatory bills.

The Senate has said it will not take up any bill that is not related to the budget and COVID-19 response. We are watching carefully to make sure this is the case.

Join our member OZ Arts Nashville for the virtual premiere of This Holding: Traces of Contact on Friday, May 29th at 8 pm .

Celebrated Nashville visual artist Jana Harper joins forces with choreographer Rebecca Steinberg, musician Moksha Sommer, and filmmaker Sam Boyette for a physical exploration of personal empathy and the shared human experience. Originally conceived as a live performance, this dance and visual art event has been reimagined for the camera, taking a timely look at our responsibilities to each other as citizens of a global community. The environmental performance was filmed from a distance at various outdoor locations in Nashville during isolation, examining individual and collective burdens, and what it means to feel connected to something larger than ourselves—especially when apart.

RSVP for exclusive content and event reminders so you don't miss the online premiere and live artist Q&A. Learn more:
There are two important surveys we ask our members and the community to take:
Please take part in the Community Marketing & Insights (CMI) 14th Annual LGBTQ Community Survey! This survey takes 10-12 minutes and the data collected helps non-profits, universities, and other organizations better understand and serve the LGBTQ community.
The Nashville LGBT Chamber is hard at work to keep our community informed and connected. We are here for you at this uncertain time and we are nothing without our members. We want your input on our upcoming events and programs, including the Pride in Business Awards and the Rainbow Connection.
