Drink Montucky and Support the Chamber-
Montucky Cold Snack is teaming up with the Nashville LGBT Chamber to give back during the month of June, Pride month! In the spirit of their core values, MCS began producing special edition Pride cans in 2016 that celebrate LGBTQ communities and gave all 8% of profits back to LGBTQ organizations from the sales of these cans.
MCS selected the Nashville LGBT Chamber as the Nashville organization to benefit from these profits. You can help support the Chamber by grabbing a MCS Pride can at any of these locations! (Check out the beer finder map! It is SO cool!)
In addition to 8% of Pride can sale profits, 100% of all Montucky Cold Snack swag sale profits from May 15th to June 16th will be donated to the Nashville LGBT Chamber and other organizations that focus on LGBTQ+ causes.
Certifying Your LGBT-Owned Business-
Nashville recently became the first city in the South to recognize LGBT-owned enterprises in government contracting. Part of this historic effort requires businesses wishing to self-identify and register as LGBT-owned to obtain certification through the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce.
In honor of LGBT Pride Month, the June workshop will explore the requirements, benefits, and process for becoming a certified LGBT Business Enterprise (LGBTBE). This class is offered through a joint initiative of the Metro Business Assistance Office and the Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce. Out and About Nashville, an LGBTBE, is also hosting. Join us at Wright Middle on Wednesday, June 5th from 6pm - 7:30 pm. Register for this FREE event today!
Office Move, Partnering with the Entrepreneur Center-
We announced it at the Business Awards for the first time but it is official now that we have moved in. We are now located in the Entrepreneur Center also known as the EC. We are at 41 Peabody St. in the Trolley Barns in downtown Nashville. This location for our office will allow us to collaborate with so many members and community partners. We will be able to share our education programming with the EC and they will be sharing theirs with us for you. They are still offering their amazing partnership deal where you can get 50% off their “cowork” membership by being an LGBT Chamber member. Look for many more opportunities for members as we grow this partnership even more. We are so excited to be here and we hope to see you here soon.
Nashville PRIDE LGBTQ+ Community Visioning Project-
From our member Nashville PRIDE. The LGBT Chamber is a community partner in these events.
Join the conversation! This project has a goal of hearing from members of our LGBTQ+ community throughout Middle Tennessee to gain a better understanding of what our community needs in the future in order to thrive.
The research project takes place over three phases over the next three months. The first phase consists of a World Cafe conversations with a diverse and wide selection of community members with a facilitated conversation. We had our first conversation last Thursday and will be hosting another public conversation on June 3 at the Thistle Farms Education Center.
We are hosting a series of small group conversations in the community that are focused on demographics, ages, and specific identities. Some conversations have been scheduled and others have not -- this is where we will need your help. You might see your name or organization listed (link above), we would love for you to host a conversation if so. If your name is not listed, we would love for you to participate by acting as a "table captain". The only responsibilities of the role include finding 6-10 people to engage in conversation and providing a space to host. Each conversation will last about 90 minutes. Some events have already been announced here.
HIV PrEP and Primary Care-
From our member Neighborhood Health. The LGBT Chamber is a sponsor of this event.
What and Why? We invite you to Sinema Restaurant for the “PrEP is Primary Care” educational event. PrEP (or “pre-exposure prophylaxis”) is one of key tools to end the HIV epidemic. PrEP is a daily medication that reduces HIV transmission by more than 90%. Thanks to the PrEP patient assistance programs, uninsured patients can access the medication – and insured patients can get help with their copays. But PrEP can only work if all patients have access to it in primary care settings like yours!
When and How? We will gather on Thursday, June 6th at 6:30pm. Our speakers will offer brief, focused, and practical advice to practicing primary care providers about how best to integrate HIV PrEP in their care delivery. We promise to be respectful of your time – and make it both brief and worth your while. Simply register here and arrive slightly before 6:30pm on the June 6th. We look forward to seeing you!
So, here’s the game plan:
Register here if you are a practicing physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner (the stars of the show).
Forward this to your primary care colleagues and encourage them to come.
Arrive before 6:30pm at Sinema on Thursday, June 6th.
See you on the June 6th! Email email@example.com with any questions.
AARP Rocketman Screening-
From our member AARP. The LGBT Chamber is a sponsor of this event.
AARP and the Nashville LGBT Chamber are partnering and you and a guest are invited to a free screening of ROCKETMAN on Thursday, June, 13th at 7 pm at Regal Cinemas Opry Mills 20 IMAX & RPX! ROCKETMAN is an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years. The film follows the fantastical journey of transformation from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international superstar Elton John. This event is free but requires registration. You can register here!
Vanderbilt Comprehensive Care Clinic’s 25th Anniversary Gala-
From our member Vanderbilt Health.
To celebrate its momentous 25th year serving persons living with HIV in Nashville and Middle Tennessee, the Vanderbilt Comprehensive Care Clinic (VCCC) will host a gala to honor those affected by HIV, those who have supported the VCCC and its mission, and to reignite HIV awareness among the Nashville community. This gala will feature live performances by celebrated Nashville artists Daphne Willis and Jesse Lee. True to the VCCC’s long history of community partnership, all food, drinks and event sponsorship will be provided by local Nashville businesses. Over 350 guests are expected in the Vanderbilt Commodore Ballroom on Saturday, June 29, 2019, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

As you can see there are so many things going on this month. We will be speaking at several corporate and community PRIDE events on what the Chamber does. If you are interested in having the Chamber speak, let us know. If you would like your event promoted, let us know. If there is anything else we can do for you to help you show your PRIDE, let us know!
