CEO Brief- ?
Monday, I spoke to students at Belmont University about the Chamber and about how I became CEO. I graduated from Belmont in 2006, and it was great to return and talk about attending as an openly gay student and seeing the acceptance and openness of current students. The diversity of students today looks as different as the campus does. It was a great way to start the week, by speaking about how far the Chamber has come and the way we make change, how the road might be long and bumpy, but with dedicated work we can get a positive outcome.
You received the board's update on CoreCivic membership on Wednesday. You can read more about it below in What We Did. As you can guess, this took up the majority of our time this week. Thanks to all the members that reached out regarding this matter.
The rest of the time we focused on TASTE.
We need your help with TASTE.
We need
silent auction items
, and we need
sponsors
! Tickets sales usually come closer to the deadline for earlybird pricing and spike the week of the event. If you want to
buy your tickets now
, that would be awesome. Taste is our annual fundraising event, and we need everyone's help to make it happen and help raise funds so we can continue to do what we do. Please help us, read more below for further details on how.

Tuesday, we hosted a community meeting for chamber members and community members to share their thoughts on CoreCivic joining the chamber, and our work with them around our mission.
The Board of Directors
released a statement
on Wednesday morning announcing the results of the meeting. The Nashville Scene also
covered the meeting
. We thank everyone who has engaged on this issue and appreciate everyone's views. We are committed to learn from this and continue to move forward to advance LGBT equality through business.

Following their show-stopping performance of 'Stand By Me' at the Royal Wedding in May 2018, London’s The Kingdom Choir will bring their infectious joy and inspiration across the Atlantic for a major North American tour in Autumn 2019. Founded in 1994 by award-winning conductor Karen Gibson, the choir draws from various Christian traditions and is dedicated to creating a sound that reflects the community they share through their warm energy and enthusiastic performances. The Choir’s rendition of 'Stand By Me' went straight to the top of the Billboard charts and this coming November they will be releasing their first full length album worldwide on Sony Music. Their success at the Royal Wedding has already seen them on several UK and American television appearances including ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS This Morning.
