CEO Brief- ?
It was a busy week, from an award last Friday from Black Pride, to speaking on our mission to many members and representing the community and making sure there is equity for all, read below on all the things we did and what we have coming up.

Spirit Day was yesterday, I wore purple to show my support for LGBT youth and stand against bullying. One of the questions I was asked yesterday in a panel discussion (you can watch the video below), was what I would go back and tell my younger self. I said I would go back and tell myself to stay strong, that none of the things people are saying and you are feeling right now are going to matter and that you will be accepted, find love, a community, and profession that you can be your whole self in, and most of all, that it gets better. I so believe in the It Gets Better Campaign, we need to keep spreading that message. It does get better. Look how far we have come in a short time. We have major companies with programs to make sure you can bring your whole self to work. We have LGBT business owners that are out and get certified as LGBT, it does not hurt their business but helps it. We have a candidate for president that is running out and proud. Things do get better and they will only continue to get better, we have to stay committed and keep working, there is still much to do, and we are here to do that with you. Thanks for being a member.
Nashville Business Journal’s 2019 Power 100 List
I am very honored to have made the  Nashville Business Journal’s 2019 Power 100 List as a 'Connector.' I love what I get to do, for the LGBT community and for the city, making connections and forging relationships, working together to make Nashville a more equitable place for all.

From the article: 'These are the power players who know everyone. Their Rolodex is packed with big names, across multiple industries. They specialize in bringing together powerful people to get things done, often driving decisions under the radar. In short, when you need to connect with someone, these are who you call.'

Connect is one of the main things the Chamber does! The others are advocate and educate. We do it all for you, thank you for being a member. Let me know how I can help with a connection.
Ashford Hughes Opinion Article in Tennessean on Equity Gains
We want to thank our friend and ally  Ashford Hughes  for his tireless work for equity for the city of Nashville. We are only beginning to feel and see the changes that he has helped push forward. His focus on equity is so important.
While we won't be working with him in Metro, we will continue to push for and protect the things he lead on, and work with him in any way we can.

We are ready to get to work with  Mayor John Cooper  and the  Metro Nashville  Council to keep moving forward around diversity, inclusion, and equity.

Please read Ashford's opinion piece featured in the Tennessean below. It lays out the historic gains we have made and where we should go next.
