CEO Brief -
I hope you have a fun weekend planned for the Labor Day holiday! How is it September? I just returned this week from a vacation up in Provincetown, MA, and can tell you how great it is to have a break to the routines we are in. The difference between how Massachusetts and Tennessee handle COVID policy and mask-wearing is night and day. Everyone wears a mask everywhere. Their COVID numbers there are so low, in large part because of this. It feels so different and you feel safe, so many more businesses are also open. It shows that it can be done.

|
We are seeing some better numbers here and we have to keep working to lower them. There is great fear that this weekend will lead to actions that will spike our numbers as they did after the Memorial Day weekend. I did a Chamber Chat online where I talked about mask-wearing and how we could spike again. I hope you will watch and then help spread the message of staying responsible and wearing a mask. We are still all in this together.
It was so great to start my time back with our AM Brewing Up Business on Thursday morning. So many connections were made! We literally had people finding assistance and offering help to others on the Zoom, and business connections being made, left and right. Add that to the sense of community and fun we had, it was wonderful. See more details below about it and please consider joining us on our next one.

Lauren is taking off next week for a much-deserved vacation! I want to take a moment to thank her for all her work and make sure you are aware of how wonderful your Membership Manager is. From the social posts and graphics she creates, the membership spotlight campaigns she manages and promotes, the major work behind the scenes she is doing to get ready to launch a new member portal and website, she works tirelessly every day for you, our members.
I will do my best to hold down the Chamber next week without her. Join me in the programs and events we have below. Stay safe and healthy this weekend and take a break from labor on Labor Day.

On Tuesday, our board President, Ron Snitker, joined representatives from other area chambers at Mayor Cooper's office. Mayor Cooper wanted to hear how this year has effected members especially if there were industries or types of members who have not been heard. He also shared information regarding a proposed referendum to alter the tax increase that was passed by Metro Council earlier this year.
